There are so many things to do that we can only describe a few here. In addition to the information provided here and in the folder in the chalet, check with the Lochinver Tourist Office (normally open between Easter and October) for additional info.

Kirkaig Falls is a fine walk. Follow the road round the bay and along the river until you come to a right hand bend with a small car park where you will see the signs for the falls. There is also a road here up to a bookshop, which also has a cafe, if you wish to stop off. The walk to the falls goes through some spectacular scenery - you can often hear and see Buzzards and the occasional Eagle catching the thermals on either side of the river. When in bloom, the Gorse bushes are a mass of yellow flowers, which have a wonderful coconut smell, and there are abundant small birds all the way up to the falls.

When you get to the falls, there is a vantage point on the hillside where you can sit, although it needs a bit of care getting to. You can watch Dippers on the stones right at the bottom of the falls, and if the light conditions are right, fish can be seen in the river. Otters can often be seen fishing their way down the river and out into Kirkaig bay.
